Diameter is not spacing
The 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm labels usually refer to a stated cable diameter, but sellers may measure a coated cable differently from its metal core. Spacing is the distance between adjacent cables, a separate specification. Ask for both dimensions and how they were measured.
A thicker cable is not a complete safety test
Resistance to force depends on cable construction, material, end connections, tension, span and the structure taking the anchors. A diameter alone does not establish a safe working load or suitability for children or pets. Request product test documentation if a particular strength is being promised.
Compare like for like
Have each quote specify the cable's metal-core and coated diameters if relevant, grade, spacing, fittings, opening dimensions and total installed price. We do not claim that every diameter is available from our team; ask for a material-specific proposal.
